Find out what kind of park site you are!

This year, as we commemorate America’s 250th with our United by Parks campaign, it's a moment to reflect on how far we've come – and to imagine the country we still aspire to be.

Our national parks are at the center of that story. They reflect our shared history and values. Across geography, background and belief, national parks remind us of what we hold in common and what unites us as a country.

And just like our history, our national parks reflect the diversity of the American experience. The National Park System is made up of more than 430 sites, across 19 different designation types, ranging from beautiful seashores, historic battlefields, inspiring memorials, cultural heritage sites, recreation areas and untouched preserves.

Of the 433 national park sites managed by the National Park Service, 63 are designated as National Parks. These are the park sites (Yosemite, Zion, Yellowstone, etc.) that are known for their breathtaking landscapes and views – and this is what you most appreciate in our parks. You see the world in epic vistas. You believe that the most important things (like clean air, wild spaces, shared wonder) should be protected for everyone. You're passionate, awe-inspiring and you make people feel something just by being yourself.

You believe we all share a responsibility to protect America’s greatest landscapes. You're the person who screams from the mountaintops why our parks matter.

As we commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary, you carry the legacy of what we have chosen to protect and a passion for what must be preserved.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

These are the stories our national parks MUST tell.

Erasing history is the opposite of what the National Park Service has stood for since it was founded more than a hundred years ago. Urge Congress to reject efforts to erase or rewrite our nation’s history.

You are timeless and refined. You stand for something (a landscape, a community, a moment in time) and you defend it with everything you have. You understand that what gets protected gets remembered.

You're the person who speaks up and stands up against injustice when something irreplaceable is under threat, and you don't back down.

As we commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary, you ask the hard questions – whose stories are we choosing to protect – and whose still need to be told?

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Protect Our National Parks.

The National Mall, known as “America’s Front Yard,” is a national park site that belongs to every American, not just people who live in D.C. Congress put clear laws in place to ensure the public has a meaningful voice before anything permanently changes these landscapes. That process is being bypassed entirely.
