National Parks Conservation Association ("NPCA ," "we," or "us") respects the privacy of personal information. We want you to understand what information about you we may collect and how we may use, share and retain that information.
This Privacy Policy describes what information we may collect from you as a visitor to our website located at www.npca.org as well as other NPCA webpages that provide a link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Sites”). The Policy also describes what personal information we may collect from or about you in other contexts, and explains how we may use and when we may share with others the information we collect about you either online or otherwise.
By visiting any of our Sites, you are confirming that you have read and that you understand and accept the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you have any objection to the practices described in this Privacy Policy, you should not use our Sites or otherwise provide your personal information to us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will become effective upon posting of the updated Policy on the Sites. If the changes are material, we will place a notice on the home page of the www.npca.org Site. Our Collection of Personal Information
We collect personal information when you choose to provide it to us, including your name, mailing address, email address, payment card information, and other information that you may choose to provide. For example, if you wish to join NPCA, become a member of NPCA, or make a contribution to NPCA, you will need to provide us with your name, email, and mailing address. If you create an account on our Sites, you will also need to provide a username and password for the account, which we will retain to protect your privacy. And if you wish to make an online payment or contribution, you will need to provide your payment processing information (e.g., debit or credit card number). Please note, however, that NPCA does not retain any debit or credit card information.
If you apply for a job with NPCA, we may collect any information you provide in your application, including, but not limited to, educational background, employment history, and references. If you prefer not to contribute online, contributions also may be made by printing out this PDF form and mailing it to Member Services, NPCA, 777 6th St., NW, Ste. 700, Washington, DC, 20001, or by calling 800-628-7275 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Thursday.
We may sometimes collect information about you from third parties with whom we work or through publicly available sources. Such trusted third parties may assist us in gathering contact information about individuals who may be interested in NPCA and its work, and such third parties might provide us with your email address and/or mailing address obtained through other sources. We may combine that information with other information we collect about you.
When you visit any of the Sites, we (or our service providers on our behalf) automatically collect some information about you or the device you use to access that Site, such as your IP address, information about the pages of the Site that you viewed, and for how long you viewed those pages. We gather this data using cookies, pixels and similar technologies so we can understand Site visitor needs and personalize their experience on the Site. Cookies are pieces of information that are stored on your computer to make visiting and using our website easier. Cookies generally help us improve your experience on the Sites. We do not share information collected through cookies with third parties (other than our service providers) without your consent (please see our cookie banner through which you may provide such consent.
Our Uses of Your Personal Information
As indicated above, we use the personal information we collect from individuals to enable them to become NPCA members, to receive information, products, or services from us, to donate to us, to facilitate the use of our Sites, and to apply to work with us. We may use your contact information to reach out to you with NPCA updates, including factors affecting certain national parks, and with invitations for you to become more active with NPCA. NPCA may also use this contact information to provide you, including by text message if you consent, with fundraising and marketing offers. Please contact us as described in the Your Choice and Contacting Us section below if you would like to opt out of such offers.
With respect to the cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on our Sites, we use those to measure how users interact with our Sites so that we can test and improve the Sites, and more generally our services and communications, so as to provide site visitors with a more relevant and meaningful experience.
Our Disclosure of Your Personal Information to Others
We use unaffiliated service providers to assist us both with the operation of the Sites and with other aspects of our business, such as payment process. As needed for them to provide such services, we may share with these service providers certain of your personal information or they may collect that directly from you when you use one or more of the Sites. With the exception of the affiliated National Parks Action Fund, we do not sell or rent our email list. We do, however, sometimes share our postal mailing list and email list with other nonprofit organizations and companies that we feel you may be interested in hearing from. Links to Other Sites
As a service to our visitors, we sometimes provide links to other websites. For example, we sometimes promote our corporate partners by including links to their websites and information about them on our Sites. A link does not denote an endorsement of those websites and NPCA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites.
Our Sites may also include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins,” such as social networking tools offered by third parties. If you use these tools to share personal information or you otherwise interact with social media features on our Sites, those social media companies may collect information about you and may use and share such information in accordance with your account settings, including by sharing such information with the general public. Your interactions with third-party social media companies and the use of their features are governed by the privacy policies of the social media companies that provide those features. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policies of any social media accounts you create and use.
Security of Information
We have implemented reasonable security measures to protect against the loss or misuse of your personal information. No information system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, but we strive to protect the security of your personal information in all our systems.
Rights You May Have Regarding Your Personal Information

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights to which you are entitled.
You may make a request on your own behalf and, if you are the parent or guardian of a minor child, you also may make a request related to your child’s personal information. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, in which case, you must provide us with a signed declaration stating that you permit that individual to act on your behalf and stating such individual’s full name, address, email address, and phone number. We may, after receiving your request, require additional information from you to verify your or your designated agent’s identity in order to protect your personal information from unauthorized disclosure or deletion at the request of someone other than you or your legal representative. We cannot grant your request if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request.
Please be aware that we are not obligated to grant all requests that you may make, depending on applicable law. For example, we may deny a request for deletion of personal information if we have a legal basis for retaining that information.
We endeavor to respond to a verifiable request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to 45 additional days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.
If your request is denied, you may appeal that decision by contacting npca@npca.org. Within 45 days of receiving your appeal request, we will inform you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response, along with a written explanation of the reasons in support of the response. Depending on the state in which you reside, you may have the right to contact your state attorney general if you have concerns about the result of the appeal or would like to submit a complaint. If this right is available to you, we will provide you with instructions on how to do so.
