Greetings from Mammoth Cave National Park

Attending this inaugural Pride in Our Parks LGBTQ+ day in the Mammoth Cave National Park was hands down the most impactful pride event I have experienced!

My wife and I were able to recruit a friend to come with us at the last minute, and all three of us had a blast! We made lots of new friends, turned the world’s longest known cave into the gayest known cave, and wandered through the woods in our colorful Pride in Our Parks shirts proudly waving our pride and trans flags about.

Celebrating pride month in the park felt liberating as everyone was welcoming during a time in the world that sometimes feels scary to be LGBTQ, especially in the south. We even got a shout out from our ranger thanking us for being part of her tour that day. It was heartfelt, and you could tell it really meant a lot for her to be able to show her support while doing something she loves. It meant a lot to us too! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️‍⚧️🤎🖤

Shout outs: Vanessa Pius, you made this inaugural Pride in Our Parks event seem like you had organized many before. Thank you for bringing your passion project to reality! The future events will be thoroughly enjoyed by many, many more! We made history together, and it went off without a hitch! Thank you!! Chris and Alex, thank you for guiding us through the gayest cave, sharing the gay history, making us laugh and feel like we were all old friends just catching up, and capturing these moments. You guys are amazing! Dorie, thank you for making sure we were all accounted for and had snacks at all times! Vanessa, Sasha, and the rest of us were in good hands! And Terrance, you captured the day beautifully and froze these times for us forever!

Thank you NPCA and all involved!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Sincerely,
Emily
