Greetings from Canyonlands National Park

This is a photo of my daughter as we backpacked through Canyonlands to celebrate her 24th birthday. I love the contrasts out there in that gorgeous place. The “mountain” in the sky foreshadows the mountains we’ll see when we climb up over those rocks in the background. It was truly an incredible experience.

Sincerely,
Angie

Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park preserves an immense desert wilderness sculpted by the Green and Colorado rivers and featuring hundreds of colorful canyons, mesas, buttes, fins, arches and spires. The Island in the Sky District is the most accessible and popular section of the park — a mesa with spectacular views of the surrounding canyons. The Needles is a vaster territory below the Island in the Sky where visitors can hike among the sandstone spires and breathtaking rocks.

“My husband and I have had the pleasure of introducing and exploring over 20 of our National Parks with our children all of their lives. The memories and adventures we've experienced together over the years intertwine us and weave our stories together. Now that they are in their 20's we are so grateful that our country recognizes the value of places that provide space to wonder, to experience beauty, to "get outside" of yourself. What an exquisite treasure we have as US citizens. For reasons geographical, political and economical, other places are not so fortunate. WE LOVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS! ”
