As a child, our family vacations were frequently camping vacations in the Shenandoah National Park. We could not afford much on my father’s Gunnery Sergeant pay. Free camping gear was available for USMC families to check-out through USMC Special Services. Several times a year we would camp and explore several locations along the Skyline Drive and build memories that have lasted a lifetime. AKP
