Don founded the Southeast Regional Office in 1992, and currently serves as an advisor — visiting, loving, and fighting to protect the special parks of this region.

Before joining NPCA, Don directed the Citizens’ Mining Project for the Environmental Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. (1990-1992), and worked as a community organizer in the coalfields of East Tennessee (1983-1990).
