Greetings from Joshua Tree National Park

In 2011, I participated in my dance colleague’s National Parks Artist Residency. Visiting the National park for two weeks with a focus to create and share artwork inspired by the land was one of my most treasured experiences as an artist, and as a human! I love the community of humans, plants, and animals who make up our National parks, and I care about protecting and preserving them for generations to come!

Sincerely,
Brittany

Joshua Tree National Park

This iconic park preserves portions of two spectacular desert ecosystems. The Colorado Desert in the eastern portion of the park features natural gardens of creosote bush, ocotillo and cholla cactus. The higher, slightly cooler Mojave Desert offers dazzling vistas of Joshua trees and yucca. The vast park also contains spectacularly sculpted formations of a type of rock known as monzogranite and is a mecca for rock climbers around the world.

“I care about protecting and preserving National parks because of the amazing resources, creatures, animals, and creative community of stewards who continue to care for them.”
