Bryce National Park will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Its beauty mesmerizes, but it is to be respected and hold a watchful eye on the sky.
My beautiful niece was employed at Bryce in the summer of 1989. She assisted in the gift shop at the main lodge. A tragic turn of events occurred one late afternoon while camping with her parents. A thunderstorm developed over the Bryce area, they had just got their tent staked and in a matter of seconds a bolt of lightning came from out of the blue striking her. We lost her two days later…respect the warning signs…they are there for your safety and protection. The beauty of Bryce is unprecedented and overwhelms the senses. Never be caught out in a storm, always be weather-wise, seek shelter in your car, and live to behold Bryce’s ever-changing environment!
Our family continues to return to Bryce, for inspiration, reflection, & healing.
Be sure to look for the plaque in honor of Carrie Beaty in the main lodge reception area. It was a wonderful act of kindness bestowed on our family from Bryce National Park.

Bryce Canyon National Park
This popular park is most famous for its colorful hoodoos, and there are more of these artfully eroded spires here than anywhere else on Earth. The area is not actually a canyon, however, but a series of amphitheaters which feature remarkable rock formations and extensive forests dominated with conifers, including ancient bristlecone pines. Together with Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks, Bryce Canyon is part of a geologic wonder known as the Grand Staircase, an immense area of rock with layered sedimentary formations ranging from 600 million to 2,000 million years old.
