I cannot pick one park…as I traveled for a month with my two daughters in a rusty van with 150,000 miles on it to hike and camp in probably 20 parks or more in 1986 and then again another month with my oldest daughter Erin adding another 20? I ran a half marathon around Crater Lake and Erin ran the 10k, to slowly take in the unspeakable diverse beauty as we did riding donkeys down the rim of Bryce Canyon. Scarily beautiful!
It’s impossible to tell one story, but as Erin picks Mt.Rainer as one her favorites, it is also one of mine as we hiked a 6miler up switch backs through colorful wildflowers, to a 360 view that brought tears to my eyes! Nature is MY CATHEDRAL!! And sharing with my daughters made it extra spectacularly loving!
Sincerely,
Grand Teton National Park
This spectacular destination preserves a dramatic stretch of the Teton Range bordering the Snake River. One of the unusual features of these distinctive mountains is the absence of foothills, meaning that there are no smaller mountains blocking the view. The park also features glacier-carved lakes, a historic district of weathered buildings made by 19th century Mormon homesteaders, and an abundance of wildlife large and small, including nearly 1,000 bison that roam the grassy fields in herds.
State(s): Wyoming
