In the Fall of 2012 my friends and I visited Yellowstone National Park before heading on to the Grand Tetons. Yellowstone was beautiful with its geysers, hot springs, and buffalo but nothing prepared us for this one late afternoon in the Tetons. Smoke, from fires blowing across the state from its neighbor, had all but obscured the Tetons for the week we were there until the day before leaving - there they were, in all their glory in this sunset.

This spectacular destination preserves a dramatic stretch of the Teton Range bordering the Snake River. One of the unusual features of these distinctive mountains is the absence of foothills, meaning that there are no smaller mountains blocking the view. The park also features glacier-carved lakes, a historic district of weathered buildings made by 19th century Mormon homesteaders, and an abundance of wildlife large and small, including nearly 1,000 bison that roam the grassy fields in herds.

I was able to visit Grand Teton while visiting with my boss who works in the park. It was one of the most beautiful placed I have been. Photography is my hobby and I was able to get some amazing pictures.
