Greetings from Yellowstone National Park

This didn’t occur on my visit to Yellowstone, but through a phone call. I placed the call and left a message hoping to speak with someone concerning the 2018 testimony to the Idaho department of Fish and Wildlife by Dr. Doug Smith. I received a call some days later identified as originating in Cody, WY. Now I would explain my purpose for the call and hope the caller could lead me to the next step.

The caller was Dr. Smith himself. The director of the Wolf Reintroduction Program was calling me. He made time for me as if it was on his daily agenda and I could tell from his voice he was calling to engage me with patience and the willingness to share information. All NPS employees I met have this ethos, and I thank them all for the service they provide.

Sincerely,
Tim

Yellowstone National Park

America's first national park is named after the river that runs through it. Within the park's massive boundaries, visitors can find mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and some of the most concentrated geothermal activity in the world. The park has 60% of the world’s geysers, as well as hot springs and mud pots. It is also home to diverse wildlife with the largest concentration of mammals in the Lower 48 states, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk.

State(s): Idaho Montana, Wyoming,

Established: 1872

“The NPS is integral to preserving and showcasing America's natural heritage. They patiently introduce and interpret the importance of their select areas for the front country visitors and their dedication is an integral part of the experience to any national park I have ever visited. ”
