Join the National Parks Conservation Association and the U.S. National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites for a free webinar on Thursday, September 10 to learn about threats facing the Chaco Canyon.
Chaco Canyon and the surrounding area — sacred ancestral homeland to several tribes and rich with archaeology and sacred sites — is threatened by rampant oil and gas leasing and development in the San Juan Basin.
Join us to learn about the significance of Chaco and its surrounding lands to the Puebloan people; how increased oil and gas extraction nearby will impact the World Heritage Site and the landscape around it; and what can be done to stop this development, including guidance for how to submit comments on an oil and gas development plan to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management before the September 25 deadline.
The expert panel includes Ernie Atencio, NPCA Southwest regional director; Paul Reed, Preservation Archaeologist, Archaeology Southwest; and Kurt Riley, Puebloan Tribal Leader.
Space is limited and first come-first serve, so register today!
