Public Hearing on UT's Revised Haze Plan

Speak out for clean air in Utah on April 17!

It’s no secret that dirty coal plants are bad for the air, but did you know that the state of Utah is planning to let Rocky Mountain Power off the hook by allowing them to avoid cleaning up unhealthy, haze-causing pollution?

Although the state of Utah is required to comply with standards set by the Clean Air Act and despite air pollution’s threats to public health and our public lands, outdated coal plants continue to muddy our views and affect the quality of dark night skies at national parks like Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Grand Canyon and Zion.

A plan established by the Environmental Protection Agency would have made the Hunter and Huntington coal plants dramatically reduce their nitrogen oxide emissions — holding them to the same standards as similar coal plants across the country — but Utah is proposing to let these plants avoid cleaning up their pollution.
