Susannah Cogburn is deeply committed to ocean conservation, both beneath the surface and in the broader coastal environment. As a scientific diver and SCUBA instructor, she has explored diverse underwater ecosystems, using her expertise to engage and educate local communities about the importance of marine protection.

Currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Science at Florida Gulf Coast University, Susannah’s research focuses on the impact of human-caused contaminants on estuarine bull sharks. She has extensive scientific experience across Southwest Florida and has contributed to projects addressing water quality issues, ecosystem dynamics, and environmental sustainability. Her science background has equipped her with the knowledge to tackle problems related to the ongoing challenges of protecting Florida’s National Parks and natural habitats. Born in Pensacola and raised between Louisiana and Central Florida, Susannah has a deep-rooted connection to the Sun Coast Region. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor adventures and sharing her passion for the unique ecosystems of Southwest Florida with visitors and nature enthusiasts.
