My boyfriend and I were taking our first road trip, and we chose to go to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore because neither of us had been to Michigan before. The staff at the visitor’s center were so friendly and gave us suggested routes and trails to optimize our time in the park. We couldn’t have had a better experience. We really appreciated the added notes on sunset times, wild animals to keep an eye out for, and safety.
Sincerely,
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
Nestled along Lake Superior’s southern shoreline on Michigan's Upper Peninsula, this remote park is a geologic wonder of colorful sandstone cliffs topped with stately pines, and miles of quiet, unspoiled beaches strewn with agate, jasper, and quartz. Stroll along the coast, hike quiet trails to the park’s historic lighthouse, and take a boat tour to marvel at the mineral-rich rock faces that tower 200 feet above the surface of the lake.
