GSMNP staff guided me to see and photograph some of the rich botanical diversity there. It was in my college days, my impressionable tears. Their knowledge, kindness and professional efforts to help me meet special plants left a strong, positive mark on my psyche. I went on to teach middle school students about the natural diversity around them. Thank you to the Gatlinberg staff who inspired me to teach others about Nature.

A Park Ranger here not only told us all about the synchronized fireflies, but also how to secure a campsite 6 months in advance in order to have the best chance of witnessing their rituals. It was truly an amazing experience that we would otherwise have not known about.
