Greetings from Fort Point National Historic Site

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, my husband and I drove to visit Fort Point, which is a beautiful site. It was my very first time there, even though I moved to California almost 12 years ago. Throughout the years, I heard so many stories about Fort Point but when we arrived there, I was flabbergasted on how the site looks like. When we walked through the gates of the main entrance, I knew that I would never forget this experience. I was pleased to see how well history is preserved and maintained. The more we walked through the fort, the more astonished I was by how the stories I read came to life in front of my own eyes. After we checked the first floor rooms, we decided to climb the spiral staircase to the top. When we arrived at the top, I was mesmerized by the view surrounding the fort, especially the Golden Gate Bridge. On our way out, we checked out the gift shop and bought us a few souviners – two Golden Gate National Parks jackets. I was sad when we left but I know that this is definitely an experience I will never forget, and will definitely come back. #SFSU

Sincerely,
Julia Collins
