Our family visited Badlands National Park when our sons were 14 and 16 years old. Our entire family enjoyed the natural beauty of the park, the wildlife we saw (especially the prairie dogs) and truly experiencing the park by walking miles of the trails. As we headed to the western section of the park to a spot suggested by a park ranger for exception sunset views, we stopped at a roadside pullout where the sun was casting shadows against a cliff. Everything was perfect to snap the attached photo. Each of our shadows starkly contrasted against the brilliant colors of the cliff. Most amazing is that the proportions of each shadow are essentially the same as our actual bodies compared to each other. We will forever remember that day in the Badlands!
Sincerely,
Badlands National Park

“I support the Parks to protect the natural beauty of our country and the rich and varied histories of all peoples who have lived here. The parklands must be protected against development and censorship of historical events, regardless of which political party is governing.”
