My wife and I met at Montana State University in Bozeman. She was a seasonal Naturalist in Grand Teton National Park and I was in the NPS maintenance shop at Old Faithful. We were married the next year and played hooky from MSU to spend our First Anniversary in Lamar Valley in Yellowstone. We had a picnic with the buffalo. Absolutely amazing. That day, I promised my lovely lady that we would spend our 25th anniversary in the same place; but life and kids have a way of changing plans. This year – 2022 – we will spend out 49th anniversary in Lamar Valley with the buffalo …and maybe some wolves. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
The photo from 1973 is in the Coulter Bay visitor center. We had to actually “phone home” long before cell phones.
