By now, our family has visited over 20 National Parks throughout the Southwest and Northwest, comprising the most memorable and powerfully moving experiences we’ve enjoyed as a family. Instead of a party, my husband and I chose to celebrate our 50th anniversary by seeing Yellowstone with our adult children - visiting the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore and Devil’s Tower along the way. Once again, we were awed by the majesty, power and richness of Nature and reminded why these places are considered “sacred spaces” by indigenous peoples. The photo attached is from Top of the Falls, Yellowstone.
Sincerely,
Yellowstone National Park
America's first national park is named after the river that runs through it. Within the park's massive boundaries, visitors can find mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and some of the most concentrated geothermal activity in the world. The park has 60% of the world’s geysers, as well as hot springs and mud pots. It is also home to diverse wildlife with the largest concentration of mammals in the Lower 48 states, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk.
State(s): Idaho Montana, Wyoming,
Established: 1872
“Humanity needs to experience wonder, awe and a sense of something greater than itself. The parks are unequalled in providing such experiences and it is our obligation to protect and preserve them for our own sakes and for future generations.”
