Women have always been a part of American history and our national parks, even when they weren’t widely recognized for their contributions. This Women's History Month, NPCA is celebrating #WomenOfTheParks: women like you who have found meaning, joy, community, adventure, solace, a sense of identity, and more through time in national parks.

Women have always been a part of American history and our national parks, even when they weren’t widely recognized for their contributions. This Women’s History Month, NPCA and our partner, Wondery Outdoors, are celebrating #WomenOfTheParks: women like you who have found meaning, joy, community, adventure, solace, a sense of identity, and more through time in national parks.

For the first time, we’re excited to celebrate Women’s History Month in-person with a family-friendly tour of DC area national park sites that highlight amazing women. On Saturday March 16, join us for exclusive visits to sites that tell the stories of the fight for women’s suffrage, pioneering businesswomen, and women artists who literally carved American history in stone.

NPCA and Wondery know the importance of building community in the outdoors, which is why we’re partnering to ensure that women and girls feel empowered by, and represented in our national parks.

Carly Anderson of @lipglossandcrayons and her daughter will join us for a day of community building while uplifting the importance of diverse representation, especially for young girls. We’ll have family-friendly activities and lunch for participants ages 9 and up.

This event is free and open to all, though advanced RSVP is required. We expect the event to fill up quickly so don’t wait! The event will start and end near Capitol One Arena in Washington, DC and transportation will be provided during the event. Exact location shared upon RSVP.

We’re delighted to have our partner, Wondery, an outdoor lifestyle brand dedicated to empowering women in the outdoors, with us to celebrate this year! Read more about how NPCA works with corporate partners to protect national parks here.
