Today there are 15 wolves at Isle Royale National Park. That's a remarkable increase from a little over a year ago when the park's wolf population numbered just two. Thanks to the National Park Service's bold plan to introduce 20 to 30 wolves over the next several years, Isle Royale’s wolves are making a huge comeback. But what does a successful ecosystem look like at Isle Royale?
NPCA is suspending its participation in public events due to the serious health risks posed by the novel coronavirus COVID-19.
On March 26, NPCA is hosting a panel discussion with the experts leading Isle Royale’s wolf restoration effort. Fresh from the annual winter study on the island, they will share with us their insights on how the wolves are adapting to their new home and their impact on the park landscape. The panelists will recap their efforts to bring more wolves to the island from the region, including Michigan, and discuss what successful wildlife management at Isle Royale looks like.
