Trump Nominates Andrew Wheeler as EPA Administrator

Americans need an EPA administrator who prioritizes clear air over industry profits.

Washington, DC – Today, President Trump formally nominated the acting head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Andrew Wheeler, as the permanent EPA administrator.

Statement by Theresa Pierno, President and CEO for National Parks Conservation Association:

“Our national parks need and deserve an EPA administrator who is committed to combating, not questioning, climate change. And Americans need an EPA administrator who prioritizes clear air over industry profits. Andrew Wheeler has yet to demonstrate these qualifications. Rather, he has continued to follow in the footsteps of Scott Pruitt, working to dismantle some of the most basic protections for our national parks, their clean air and water, and the integrity of our lands. As we’ve said before, we cannot and will not support Mr. Wheeler in this position, as he is working to harm the very agency and bedrock policies he is charged with enforcing.”
