We’re excited that you’re interested in being part of our Day of Action! In order for you to make the biggest impact possible for parks and their staff, take a look at these FAQs.
If you have any questions, please contact npca@npca.org!
Q. Why is NPCA holding a Day of Action?
A. In honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary – and on 8/25, the 110th anniversary of the National Park Service – we’re encouraging everyone to do their part to ensure that our parks have the staff and protections they need. Our national parks bring people together, and it’s only right for us to come together and support them.
Q. How can I do my part?
A. We’re encouraging everyone to participate – whether by visiting the parks we all love or by sending a letter to Congress urging them to invest in parks and park staff. Over the past year and a half, the National Park Service has lost a quarter of its permanent staff at a time when parks are already struggling – that’s why it’s so important to raise your voice and show a united belief in the importance of a well-supported park staff.
Q. What is NPCA doing in the parks on 8/25?
A. In the spirit of supporting our national park staff, we’ll be in national parks and other locations across the country talking to park visitors about how they can stand up for parks. If you’re planning to be in the area, we’d love if you stopped by to speak with NPCA staff about why national parks are important to you, hear from them about NPCA’s work to protect them, and sign our petition and fill out one of our postcards thanking rangers for all they do.
Q. What are some other ways I can get involved during National Park Week?
A. We’re so glad you asked! If you’re not near a national park event, don’t worry! You can still support our parks by joining NPCA staff virtually to get live updates from parks around the country at 1PM ET this Tuesday, 8/25; the livestream will be hosted on this page.
Throughout National Park Week, we’ll invite people to engage in meaningful ways – from taking action and supporting our work to sharing their park memories, creating art, learning more about park protection and connecting with our community.
