Tariq brings over ten years of expertise to NPCA, having worked in both the House and Senate, as well as in various NGOs. He joins NPCA as the Director of Cultural Resources in the Government Affairs department.

Tariq Zahran began his career working with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), where he played a pivotal role in brokering deals on foreign affairs, energy, and environmental issues. He transitioned to nonprofit work, focusing on serving minority communities and advancing humanitarian aid and international development. Tariq’s expertise led him to the Committee on Natural Resources, where he closely collaborated with House Majority Leadership on issues such as public lands, climate change, and environmental justice. Passionate about sustainability, he transitioned to work on issues around critical minerals, e-mobility, and battery recycling. An avid trail runner, Tariq experienced a setback when he suffered a fall from a mountain. He now finds joy in admiring the mountains from the comfort of his screens.
