RJ Fitzpatrick is a filmmaker, videographer, and digital media artist from Ruleville, Mississippi, dedicated to preserving the Delta’s civil rights history through photography, documentary film, and oral history.
A Delta State University graduate with a BFA in Digital Media Arts, he has contributed to projects such as Fannie Lou Hamer’s America and the Emmett Till Memory Project. Through teaching and mentorship with initiatives like the Young Filmmakers’ Workshop and the Mississippi Delta Film Academy, Fitzpatrick equips youth to document their communities, preserving local histories and inspiring the next generation of storytellers. His work emphasizes that home and land carry more than geography—they hold memory, struggle, and belonging, and remembering them is an act of justice.
