Born in Ohio and raised along the Lake Erie coast, Mickey turned her love for nature into an actionable science career. Mickey Rogers, Ph.D. is an atmospheric chemist and was most recently a Linus Pauling Research Fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

At PNNL, she pioneered a novel, nature-based carbon capture solution to unravel the complex interactions between ocean and climate. Co-founder of the Pacific Northwest Hub of Sustainable Ocean Alliance—part of the world’s largest youth-led ocean advocacy network—Mickey has spearheaded outreach initiatives from deep-sea conservation to hands-on science briefings with members of Congress. Mickey was also a 2025 Carbon Removal Justice Fellow with the National Wildlife Federation and American University’s Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal and she elevated the intersectionality of CDR and environmental justice. Passionate about science education, she champions research on airborne algae and advocates for the seamless integration of scientific evidence into policy. Mickey is now a newly appointed 2025 Science, Technology, and Policy Fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and will be addressing federal energy management at the Department of Energy.
