As Philanthropy Advisor of the North, Heather Vihstadt aims to grow the NPCA family of supporters to help protect, strengthen and grow our national parks so they may be preserved for generations to come.

She joined NPCA in 2022 as Associate Director of Trustees for the Parks and has served as a leader in the nonprofit sector since 2007. Her professional background includes working in the fields of history and culture, arts, education, and positive youth development. Over the last decade, she has been particularly focused on helping individuals align their personal values and interests with charitable giving opportunities, raising millions towards mission fulfillment.

Heather earned a Master in Nonprofit Management degree with a certificate in Capacity Building from Regis University. She is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

In her free time, Heather loves being with family and friends. Together, with her husband and two sons, they have explored and appreciated many national parks including: Olympic, North Cascades, Mt. Rainier, Crater Lake, Redwood, Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic, Rocky, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Canyon, White Sands, Haleakala and several national monuments and historic sites as well. They look forward to more trips in the future!
