As Associate Director of the Trustees for the Parks, Heather Vihstadt and her fellow colleagues aim to grow the NPCA family of supporters to help preserve, protect and expand our national parks so they may remain beloved treasures for generations to come.

She joined the NPCA staff in 2022 and has served as a leader in the nonprofit sector since 2007. Her professional background includes working in positive youth development, education, and arts and culture. Over the last decade, she was particularly focused on helping individuals align their values and interests with philanthropic giving. Collectively, she and her teammates raised tens of millions of dollars towards mission fulfillment through membership, annual fund, special events, grants, and other revenue sources.

Heather earned her Masters in Nonprofit Management degree with a certificate in Capacity Building from Regis University. She is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

In her free time, Heather loves being with her family and friends. Together, with her husband and two sons, they have explored many national parks including: Olympic, North Cascades, Crater Lake, Redwood, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Canyon, White Sands, Haleakala and several national monuments as well. They look forward to more trips in the future!
