My name is Allison MacKenzie, and I’m a recent graduate of the Harriet Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University, where I majored in Environmental Studies. I conducted my undergraduate thesis research on gopher tortoises and their habitat. I am currently aiming to continue my education via a Master’s program in ecology or a closely related field.
I was raised in Fort Myers, Florida, and after completing an environmental science course in high school, I realized how important nature is to me and decided to pursue an education in environmental studies. I’m extremely passionate about nature, especially when it comes to conservation of nature, wildlife, and public lands, hence my deep appreciation for state and national parks and their advocates. I am interested in Florida wildlife and the effects of development on our local ecosystems, with a specific focus on animal displacement and destruction of habitat. I love going for hikes, photographing local biodiversity, reading, and travelling around the world. I am very excited to get the opportunity to work with the NPCA and people passionate about conservation.
