Alan is the Program Director for the North Carolina Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission, a state nonprofit with a mission to provide outdoor learning opportunities for youth.
A biologist by training and graduate of the University of Florida, he’s motivated to develop programs that allow communities opportunities to learn about their local ecology and its conservation efforts. Alan developed a great love and respect for the outdoors from a young age. Growing up abroad, he was fortunate to have the opportunity to hike, camp, and ski in national parks across the British Isles and continental Europe. It was these experiences that fueled his interest in outdoor learning and the protection of outdoor spaces.
