Salute to the Parks 2017 Event Information

Every year, National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) hosts Salute to the Parks in Washington, D.C., to celebrate our national parks, the agency that stewards them, and the people around the country who speak up on their behalf. This annual celebration commemorates the preservation and protection of America’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage at our national parks. This year, Salute to the Parks will celebrate the accomplishments of the National Park Service Centennial as we look back on our successes of the last year and forward toward the second century of our national parks.

Salute to the Parks will be held on April 5,2017, at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The event will begin at 6pm with a cocktail reception on the Mezzanine, followed by dinner and program at 7pm in the Great Hall. During the program, we will honor Jack Steward and Colton Smith, hosts of Emmy® Award-winning Rock the Park with the Robin W. Winks Award for enhancing public understanding of the National Park System. We will also honor Gretchen Long with the Centennial Award for outstanding contributions toward ensuring our national parks are ready for their second century of service. Gretchen is Chair, Centennial Advisory Committee of the National Park System Advisory Board and Past Chair and Trustee Emerita of NPCA. Following the program, guests will join us for a dessert reception.

Over the years, NPCA’s Salute to the Parks has become the go-to conservation event of the year. It attracts dignitaries, members of Congress, National Park Service staff, and national park supporters as well as representatives from the broader conservation community.
