EPA Public Hearing in Denver on Proposal to Improve Our Air Quality

Governor Polis recently stated it’s about time “to stop sugar-coating the bad state of our air quality.” We couldn’t agree more. And we need you to join us in Colorado to speak up.

Analysis from the National Park Service and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows Colorado’s already severely compromised air quality is worsening. The same sources of pollution harming health, wildlife and landscapes are also driving climate change, a grave threat to sensitive alpine areas, including Rocky Mountain National Park. Fortunately, we now have an opportunity to create effective change here at home.

The EPA made recent headlines when it announced a proposed reclassifification of the Denver area and the northern Front Range from a “moderate” to a “serious” violator of federal air quality standards. While the news may sound grim, this action will provide Colorado with more tools to address our air pollution crisis, and it will also help hold our government accountable for the health of our national parks and communities.

On September 6, the EPA will host a public hearing on its proposal. Please join me in speaking up for clean air in Colorado. Your voice is important.
