Busch Gardens is trying to take James City County for a ride.
Seeking an exception to the county’s height restrictions, Busch Gardens hopes to build a ride that would be 55 feet taller than the current tallest ride in the park. Such a ride would mar the historic landscape.
This part of the James River still evokes the time of Chief Powhatan, his daughter Pocahontas, the explorations of English captain John Smith and the first permanent English settlement established in North America in 1607. Just because a few modern structures exist here is no reason to break the rules to allow more, especially while litigation continues against a recent intrusion — the Dominion power line.
Please join NPCA in speaking out on June 11 to protect the scenic views along the historic James River and Colonial Parkway.
