BLM Meetings on Oil & Gas Development

Speak up at a BLM meeting in defense of Carlsbad Caverns & Guadalupe Mountains National Parks.

This September, join the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at a meeting near you as they provide information and answer your questions about a draft Resource Management Plan that will guide oil and gas development for the foreseeable future surrounding Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks.

Poorly planned oil and gas development and fracking could cause irreversible damage to park resources. We need to protect the exquisite World Heritage Carlsbad Caverns from impacts to the delicate cave formations that likely extend well beyond park boundaries, and protect both parks from air pollution, groundwater pollution, dark sky impacts and climate change.

In a political climate that has eliminated many opportunities for public involvement, this is a chance to put the public back into public lands. Please attend and voice your concerns about protecting the unique caverns and ecology within these parks from development outside their boundaries.
