Ales & Advocacy: Letters & Donuts & Bears – Oh My!

Alaska’s bears and wolves on national preserves are in danger! This past May 2018, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke directed the National Park Service (NPS) to allow extreme hunting methods on Alaska’s national preserves, such as baiting brown bears (WITH DONUTS), killing black bear mothers and cubs in dens and killing wolves and pups by trapping during denning season!

Join NPCA and Defenders of Wildlife on Thursday, July 12 to learn how you can help protect wildlife on Alaskan national preserves from these extreme sport hunting practices.

Just three years ago in 2015, NPS successfully banned these extreme hunting methods on Alaska’s national preserves. But now, in a complete reversal, Secretary Zinke is ordering NPS to surrender its authority to protect the wildlife that call Alaska’s national preserves home from these shameful and extreme sport hunting practices.

Donuts will be provided, and The Writers Block Bookstore & Café will have their full menu of food and beverages available. Make your voice heard by sending your personal comments to Secretary Zinke and help spread the word that donuts are NOT for bears.
