Third Annual Trail Day at the Appalachian National Scenic Trail

Join us for the Harlem Valley Appalachian Trail Community’s third annual Trail Day and explore the Appalachian National Scenic Trail during peak fall foliage.

The Harlem Valley Appalachian Trail Community (HVATC), Appalachian Trail Conservancy and National Parks Conservation Association invite you to this free, all-day event celebrating the Appalachian Trail (AT) and northeast fall foliage with activities for the whole family!

Activities include a day hike to the famous Dover Oak and Cat Rocks overlook, yoga on the AT boardwalk, a trail maintenance workshop led by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, trail projects led by Mission Continues, a photography exhibit by Justin Goodhart and Charles Flores, birding, orienteering, a native plant walk and talk, children’s activities, a graffiti collage display, and food trucks and BBQ!

NPCA and HVATC will recognize Howard Permut for his outstanding work in conceiving and developing the only train stop right on the 2,190 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Springer, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine.

Sean Gobin, Founder and executive director of Warrior Expeditions, will also be honored for his tremendous effort to help combat veterans transition from military service by participating in long distance outdoor expeditions. Following his own thru-hike in 2012, Gobin started the Warrior Hike “Walk Off the War” program on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in 2013 and has since expanded offerings to nine national scenic trails and the Mississippi River.
