Roadless Rule Public Meetings

Healthy and thriving roadless areas in national forests benefit national parks, and the people and wildlife who enjoy them. For more than 100 years, NPCA has been the fearless and outspoken defenders of our national parks, including the public lands and waters surrounding them. This includes our national forest lands.

Right now, the Trump administration is moving to eliminate the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, a landmark conservation safeguard that protects 45 million acres of national forests, including nearly 300,000 acres in New England in the White and Green Mountain National Forests. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail crosses through these roadless areas and supports recreational opportunities from Maine to Georgia.

Public comments are being accepted until midnight on Monday, September 21. Join us in protecting public lands across the Northeast. Please submit a comment in opposition to rescinding the roadless rule.
