Roadless Rule Comment Party

NPCA is partnering with other organizations to make sure that people like you, who care about the parks, understand how important the Roadless Rule is and what you can do to protect it.

Did you know that over one third of the forested public land around Glacier, Whitefish and Kalispell are protected roadless areas?

Right now, the Trump administration is moving to eliminate the Roadless Rule, a landmark conservation safeguard that protects 58.5 million acres of national forest land, including 6.4 million acres in Montana, and 1.4 million within 100 miles of Glacier.

To defend these public lands, NPCA is partnering with other organizations to make sure that people like you, who care about the parks, understand how important the Roadless Rule is and what you can do to protect it. Please join your neighbors and friends to learn what’s at stake and take action to defend America’s wildest public lands.

For 25 years, the Roadless rule has protected our most intact forests like the Flathead, Kootenai and Lolo, by preventing new road construction and large-scale logging. These places safeguard clean drinking water, support wildlife, and offer unmatched, accessible opportunities to hunt, fish, hike and camp. At the same time, our national forests already contain thousands of miles of roads that are not fully maintained and provide critical access for fire safety.

Large, connected landscapes like these are increasingly rare and uniquely valuable, and our communities benefit from them every day.

Come and meet your neighbors, maybe plan a hike and write a letter. We will buy you a round of your favorite Sacred Waters beverage!
