The National Park Service (NPS) is developing a General Management Plan (GMP) for Katahdin Woods and Waters, which will shape the visitor experience, resource protection, and park access in the years ahead.
This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in Maine. Designated by President Obama in 2016, the Monument preserves 87,500 acres of temperate forest, meandering rivers, and critical wildlife habitat in the north woods of Maine. Over the last decade, we’ve advocated for essential federal funding, staffing support and improved access for park visitors and local communities alike.
Right now, the National Park Service (NPS) is developing a General Management Plan (GMP) for Katahdin Woods and Waters, which will shape the visitor experience, resource protection, and park access in the years ahead. You can learn more about the GMP here.
There are several upcoming opportunities for the public to have their voice heard during the GMP process, virtually and in person. We encourage you to participate.
