Lake Chelan National Recreation Area

, Washington State

Acreage: 61,957.92
Category: National Recreation Area

Tucked among the many lakes of the North Cascade National Park, Lake Chelan is so remote that the far Northwest end is only accessible by boat, float plane, or trail. The beautiful lake, surrounded by the North Cascade Range, is the third deepest in the country. Recreational options are boundless—you can boat, fish, camp, backpack, hike, bike, horseback ride, raft, and kayak. The lake is one of the many gems of the North Cascade National Park Complex.

I have been on this fabulous lake many times. The scenery and tranquility is spectacular. Stehekin, at the far end of the Lake is a joy! A very rustic little community, surrounded by spectacular scenery, with lots to offer its guests. We went there, and spent a week, yearly when we had a boat. One of our fondest memories!
