Would you like to visit some of the world’s best preserved fossils? You will find them at the 50 million year old Green River Lake beds of Fossil Butte National Monument in Wyoming. The visitor center itself exhibits over 80 fossils. If you want to get hands on, you can visit a fossil research quarry and assist park staff as they collect fossils. You can also take a scenic drive around the monument or walk one of the interpretive trails.

If You Go

To help collect fossils at the research quarry you must visit between 11 and 4 on Fridays or Saturdays. Contact the park directly before you go.
