Park Isle Royale National Park This rugged, roadless island is the largest wilderness area in Michigan. See moose, beavers, foxes, snowshoe hares, loons, osprey, bats, and other animals without the interruption of cars and other aspects of modern civilization. Park Flight 93 National Memorial This site preserves the crash site of Flight 93 commemorates the passengers and crew who, on September 11, 2001, gave their lives to thwart a planned attack on the nation's capital. Visitors can learn about the lives of these brave men and women, see a marble wall inscribed with their names, and walk through a grove of 40 memorial trees planted in their honor.

NPCA at Work New Monument in Maine's Spectacular North Woods Is Under Threat In August 2016, President Barack Obama designated more than 87,500 acres of land along the East Branch of the Penobscot River in Maine as the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. But the Trump administration could attempt to alter or rescind the national park site’s federal protections following an April 2017 executive order mandating a federal review of national monuments created since 1996.
