Mark Wenzler leads NPCA's national clean air and climate programs, which educate decision-makers and the public about the effects of air pollution and global warming on our national parks. NPCA is working to encourage Congress and the Administration to strengthen legislative and regulatory protections for national park air quality, and enforce clean air laws protecting the parks from external pollutants.
Mark has written and produced several reports for NPCA focusing on air pollution and climate change, including Turning Point and Unnatural Disaster. Mark also established a unique partnership with the National Park Service and the EPA to promote climate change education and clean energy stewardship in the national parks.
Previously, Mark directed the climate and energy programs at the National Environmental Trust where he authored a policy book on power plant air and climate pollution. Mark is a lawyer who began his career prosecuting environmental cases for the New Jersey Attorney General, and later joined the Public Justice law firm to represent environmental organizations and local communities in Clean Air Act law enforcement cases.
Mark earned his undergraduate degree from Providence College in 1985, masters in international relations/economics from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in 1988, and juris doctor from Syracuse University School of Law in 1988.
