WHAT WE DO

   Theresa Perenich of Athens, Georgia, sums up what these personal stories illustrate "… We must save our national parks because they are special places with which we have been blessed and they deserve our best care." It is essential that Congress and the administration provide the funding necessary to the meet the needs of the national parks today, and for future generations who have yet to experience the wonder of these national treasures.

   You can help to preserve the sites and stories of our shared history and culture. With the support of all Americans, the National Park System can fully reflect its preeminent place as the world's finest system of protected lands.

Volunteer. There are opportunities to maintain park trails, landscape, provide technical expertise, welcome visitors, and much more. 

Spread the word. You can make a difference by talking to others about the National Parks System. Contact the National Parks Conservation Association for more information about opportunities to:

• speak in your community

• table at events in your area

• write your elected officials

• sponsor an event for fellow activists

• write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper

Become a park activist. When you join the National Parks Conservation Association's activist network, you will receive a weekly electronic newsletter with the latest park news and opportunities to take action to preserve the parks.
