Meet Nick Gross

Nick is interning at the Southeast Regional Office this summer. While interning this summer with NPCA, he will be working on projects associated with the impacts of the national energy policy on the national parks. One assignment pertains to the permitting trends for mountaintop removal mining in the headwaters of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, as well as coal-mining trends throughout Tennessee. The other project focuses on the West-wide energy corridor and the proposed designations of oil, gas, and hydrogen pipelines and electricity transmission and distribution facilities in 11 western states that could harm national parks and wildlife.

Nick grew up in Northern California (Chico) and graduated from the University of California, Davis, with degrees in both International Relations and Economics. He will be attending graduate school at the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke beginning this fall, where he will study Environmental Economics and Policy.
