On July 15 and 16, 2015, the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) will recognize 176 representatives and 52 senators in the current Congress with a Friend of the National Parks Award for their voting record in the last Congress (113th).
Recipients of the award will receive a framed reproduction of a color poster of Everglades National Park in the style of the Works Progress Administration posters produced for the National Park Service in the 1930s.
The Friend of the National Parks Award was established in 1999 to track and publicize congressional members’ votes on significant national park issues. This year, NPCA compiled votes for five national park-related votes in the House and three national park-related votes in the Senate. To receive the award, representatives had to vote correctly at least three out of five times; senators had to vote correctly two out of three times.
