Prior to his arrival at NPCA, Mike worked for seven years as a ranger in the National Park Service, leading tours into cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park and crawling through ice-filled lava tubes at Craters of the Moon National Monument. He also served as a ranger at Joshua Tree National Park, developing and teaching curriculum-based education programs to thousands of K-12 students in the diverse communities surrounding the park. Energized by intersections with different cultures and perspectives, Mike has lived in Nepal and Indonesia, where he worked as a DJ and frolicked with rehabilitating orangutans. Most recently, Mike served as the Community Partner Liaison for Humboldt State University, establishing creative educational partnerships with non-profit organizations.
