Help Make Mount St. Helens America's Next National Park!

We have an opportunity to positively shape the future of Mount St. Helens and the federal government’s ability to provide the public with meaningful enjoyment of the volcano.

Over the last several years, the U.S. Forest Service has struggled to maintain monument roads, visitor centers, and area trails.  Monument funding has barely increased the past five years; as such visitation has dropped significantly during this time.  If Mount St. Helens remains under Forest Service management its likely visitation will remain stagnant, the state economy will see small benefit and facility improvements will be small.

However, transferring Mount St. Helens to the national park system will likely address all these problems as well as potentially provide resources for fish and wildlife management, invasive species control and expanded marketing potential.

Elevating Mount St. Helens to a national park would generate significant benefits for the volcano’s resources and wildlife, its gateway communities and the state. A citizens task force has been set up to help address the needs of Mt. St. Helens, click here to send your comments today!
