What We Do: Accomplishments

Gateway: "Envisioning Gateway: A Public Design Competition for Gateway National Park" launched January 29, 2007.
Hamilton Grange: Over the last two years, NERO secured hundreds of signatures on a petition supporting the restoration of Hamilton Grange, solicited dozens of letters of support from historic groups, and worked closely with Congressman Rangel's staff. Finally, in 2006 Hamilton Grange was placed in the President’s budget, and Congress appointed the funding necessary to move and fully restore the house.
Y2Y: NERO co-sponsored and co-organized the Yellowstone to Yukon photography exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, on exhibit until February 18, 2007.
Support Our Parks: Hundreds of petition signatures were collected this summer to visitors of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty by NERO’s summer interns. The petition, sent to Secretary Kempthorne, states that it should be a priority to provide adequate funding for our national parks.
Alexander Brash, Northeast Regional Director, provided testimony at a U.S. Department of Interior Listening Session in Brewer, Maine in September 2006. Read his testimony here.
Alaska: NERO hosted an evening with the Explorer’s Club building support for Alaskan national parks in New York City.
