Thomas F. Secunda to Chair National Parks Conservation Association Board of Trustees
Washington, D.C. – The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) announces the appointment of Thomas F. Secunda, a founding partner of Bloomberg LP, as Chairman of its Board of Trustees. NPCA’s Board of Trustees is the governing body for the nonpartisan nonprofit organization – the nation’s leading voice for America’s national parks.
“Tom Secunda has been a great friend to the national parks and NPCA for many years, and we are thrilled to have him lead our board,” said NPCA President Tom Kiernan. “As we prepare for the centennial of the National Park Service in 2016, his vision and leadership will be instrumental to us reaching our ambitious goals in the next few years.”
Mr. Secunda has been actively involved with the National Parks Conservation Association board for more than 11 years, including serving as Vice Chair. He has been Chairman of the organization’s Northeast Regional Advisory Board and has regularly co-chaired the organization’s biennial gala in New York. Mr. Secunda, his wife Cindy, and their two daughters vacation regularly at national parks across the country.
“As a longtime supporter of our national parks, I look forward to working with NPCA to ensure these national treasures are better protected and preserved for their second century. And, we will strive to make sure our national parks are better known, fully appreciated and visited often by the American people,” said Mr. Secunda.
Mr. Secunda currently serves as Partner and Global Head of Financial Products and Services of Bloomberg LP and is responsible for the company’s core product and primary revenue source, the Bloomberg Professional service. In this role, he oversees a global staff of 6,000, including more than 3,000 technologists. In 1981, Mr. Secunda co-founded Bloomberg with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Duncan MacMillan, and Charles Zegar. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he was a fixed-income trader at Morgan Stanley and previously worked in systems research at Salomon Brothers.
In addition to NPCA, Mr. Secunda serves on the boards of Bloomberg LP, the Intrepid Museum Foundation, The Manhattan Theatre Club, and Friends of Westchester County Parks.
Since 1919, the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association has been the leading voice of the American people in the fight to safeguard our National Park System. NPCA, its members, and partners work together to protect the park system and preserve our nation’s natural, historical, and cultural heritage for our children and grandchildren.
